DIRECTOR

Richard V. Durante Jr. (Rick)

Rick is Director of Delco Hi-Q and is Vice President of Education at Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (FMFCU). Rick also serves as Executive Director of Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation.Philadelphia actor Tom McCarthy He has been involved with Delco Hi-Q since 2004.

His responsibilities at FMFCU include managing the Learning & Development department and the credit union’s youth education programs. He represents FMFCU within its partnering schools and provides financial education in many of Delaware County’s school districts.

In 2006, the National Youth Involvement Board recognized Rick for having the largest one-year increase in the number of students reached in financial literacy seminars. He received an Outstanding Volunteer Award for bridging the gap between community and school from the Interboro Education Association in 2007.

Rick is a Delaware County resident and a graduate of Interboro High School. He holds a B.S. in Education from Temple University.


Virginia R. Beaumont (Ginger)

Ginger serves as Delco Hi-Q consultant. During her 26-year career at Scott Paper Company, she held positions in employee benefits, labor relations, public relations, and communications.

Her responsibilities included planning and coordinating special company events and employee recognition programs, editor for the Chester Operations newsletter, and Delaware County Coordinator of the Hi-Q competition from 1986 until 1993. Ginger served as Director from 2005-2007. She attended elementary and secondary schools in Delaware County and Millersville University.


QUIZMASTER

Thomas J. McCarthy (Tom)

Tom is celebrating his 30th season as Quizmaster. He is a professional announcer, actor, and Philadelphia actor Tom McCarthypresident of the Screen Actors Guild in the tri-state area.

Tom was awarded the prestigious Barrymore Award in 1997, and received a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Theatre Alliance of Philadelphia in 2003. Also in 2003, The Pew Charitable Trust awarded Tom a $10,000 individual grant to co-write and star in a one-man show on the “Philly Fan.”

Tom attended elementary and secondary schools in his native Philadelphia, Niagara University in New York, and studied locally with Rose Schulman at the Hedgerow Theatre, Rose Valley. He served on the faculty of the College for the Performing Arts at the New Studies Center in Philadelphia, and performs in plays in the Philadelphia area, in addition to television commercials and motion pictures. He will appear in a recurring role in the upcoming season of the HBO series “The Wire.” Tom was inducted into the Delco Hi-Q Hall of Honor in 2006.
